Making coffee is a ritual. He’s a great host. You ought to appreciate that. The perfect cup of coffee. Watching a movie is an event. Lighting, volume, angle of seating. Is it perfect? Just right? Need adjusting? He’ll keep tweaking until he’s perfectly happy that everybody is happy.
